Read MoreLisa Foy comes from New England has lived in the Mid-Atlantic region since graduating college. She graduated first from Georgetown University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Russian and later from Marymount University with a Master’s Degree in Information Management. Her love of languages took her from a student of languages to a programmer of languages and to a career in systems technology. She spent 10 years at CACI, a major systems integrator in Arlington, V where she worked on computer systems, systems deployments, proposal development, and eventually worked in CACI’s Advanced Technology Center and completed her Master’s degree. She joined Integic, a young start-up company in Chantilly, Virginia. As a project manager, Ms. Foy initially guided several key Government clients through their implementations of a workflow system to increase their productivity. She was then brought onto a large-scale Electronic Health Records system development and integration project for the Department of Defense (DoD). This project would eventually become the patient longitudinal record system for soldiers and their families integrating with several other DoD systems. With about 10 years of medical systems integration under her belt she sought a new start-up opportunity. In 2009 Ms. Foy joined Agilex Technologies as one of the early employees. She began working with clients in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) including US Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Her team accomplished major database migrations and systems modernizations for DHS. Ms. Foy grew and managed large-scale programs for her company achieving positive customer results which resulted in her promotion in 2014 to the position of Vice President at Agilex. Throughout her years in Information Technology Ms. Foy has operated with diverse teams in multiple US and international locations. Her ability to create such teams and deliver quality programs to her clients has been an essential element to her success in business. Having left Agilex after its acquisition by Accenture Federal Services in 2015, Ms. Foy is now engaging her entrepreneurial side and re-dedicating herself to learning from other business professionals.
Our Digi-Lit Blog is intended to inform and engage everyday folks on the tools and topics of technology and all things digital. Whether it’s your car’s controls, your ATM, your cell phone or even your microwave, are all digital technologies that you use every day and serve as access points to the digital world whether you know it or not. Making your life easier and safer, making technology accessible, or creating environments to bring out innovation from your children are all topics we would like to cover. We are focused on people that are not necessarily in the information technology business so we will try to keep the acronyms to a minimum and instead communicate in plain English when possible. Information Technology is one of those areas where there is usually more than one ‘right’ answer but there are many ‘wrong’ answers. So steering clear of the poor choices and focusing on the ideas and technologies with potential to improve your life is one of our goals. We want to identify what’s useful and why and let you, the reader, make beneficial decisions for yourselves and your family about the technology that surrounds you. As technology evolves and our readership finds areas of interest the writing will evolve so stay tuned for some art, some science, some facts, and sometimes just fun.
